I’ve been part of The Tutor Collective since the very beginning when there were just a few of us! Since then I have seen it grow to over 15 members. This is truly a well organised group where we share challenges, potential solutions and tools which we have experienced. Thank you Pete for bringing everyone together!

The Tutor Collective is a unique networking group for anyone whose main business is tutoring children. It’s so helpful to meet up with people who have similar businesses and get inspiration and support from each other. Each meeting there is a great speaker to help us with some aspect of our businesses.

The Tutor Collective is exactly what I’d been looking for. A professional, supportive network of like-minded educators who genuinely care about quality. It’s a community where standards matter, collaboration is encouraged, and you feel connected rather than working in isolation. I’ve met brilliant tutors, shared ideas and resources, and felt more confident and energised in my work because of it. If you want to grow your network with people who ‘get it’, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I absolutely love The Tutor Collective. It’s such a great space to connect with other tutors who really understand what it’s like to run a tutoring business. The meetings are always supportive and inspiring, and I come away feeling motivated with lots of new ideas. The guest speakers at each meeting are fantastic too and always share really useful tips that I can actually put into practice. As a new member, I found everyone friendly, positive and welcoming. How it all started …

The Tutor Collective founder, Peter Elliot

Hi, I’m Peter Elliot, the founder of The Tutor Collective.

Having attended business networking events for years, I’ve always really enjoyed and believed in the principle of it; meeting interesting, like-minded people and forming business and personal relationships that were mutually beneficial.

However, as the director of Guitar Teacher Bushey, I would find that whilst I would meet a lot of fascinating people (accountants, lawyers, plumbers etc.), I’d rarely meet people whose businesses had synergy with mine.

I have often been asked to recommend piano teachers and maths tutors for my students but never insurance loss assessors.. Who would have thought?!

Because of this, in April 2023 I decided to reach out to a few local children’s activity providers and invited them to meet up with the aim of exchanging ideas and eventually to refer and recommend each other, once we had got to know, like and trust one another.

Our first meeting was in my house on the 11th of April 2023 and had an impressive turnout of.. 5 of us. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of the meeting (we did take some photos in the following meetings) though I assure you, we had some excellent coffee!

Over the following few months, we’d meet up intermittently, roughly once per term. It was wonderful seeing the same happy faces continue to attend the meetings. Slowly, the group started to grow and I decided to establish the group more formally as our community continued to flourish. Thus, ‘The Tutor Collective’ was born.

We moved to The Hertsmere in Borehamwood in January 2024 and then to The Aerodrome Café in Elstree in October 2024 where we have been there ever since.

We now have over 20 members who regularly attend our meetings and hopefully, we’ll see you there soon too!
